Our firm enjoys corporate membership of the Nigerian Maritime Association and the Lagos State Shippers Association where we continuously acquaint ourselves with developments in maritime related matters. Also, we are Solicitors to Ocean Transport Insurance Mutual (Belgium) who are the major insurers to the Nigerian Ports Authority regarding all their assets and exposures. We offer numerous services in this area of law including the arrest and release of vessels by order of court and furthermore the auction of vessels for sale, a service we recently offered to a client in the UAE. We have equally advised and undertaken several admiralty and maritime issues ranging from carriage of goods by sea, insurance, maritime liens, cabotage and all aspects of shipping litigation. Our firm also offers advice on regulatory and policy issues relating to the maritime sector.
Between 2016 and 2017, the firm was engaged to lead the drafting component on numerous Technical Advisory Committees in the Maritime and Land Transport Infrastructure reform agenda of the 8th Assembly, and were involved in the drafting and review of some fifteen different legislations including those for Rail, Road, Ports and Harbour.
